This month, I’ve decided to switch things up. I am taking a break from writing about fitness motivation, how and why you should be doing Bulgarian split squats, or the best time of day to workout.
Instead, here’s a look at what I am currently working on and into. Enjoy!
TV Show:
My wife and I are re-watching Breaking Bad via Netflix. Man, this show is even better the second time around. There is always something I forgot or insights I missed about the acting, character development, and story building, and I get more out of it each time. Truly the GOAT of TV shows IMO. Just writing this gives me a craving for some fresh Los Pollos Hermanos.
Workout program:
The main focus over the next 10 weeks is progressively overloading my hex bar deadlift. This is a movement I have always loved and used to do quite often when I worked at Lifetime. My client Eric happens to have a hex bar/trap bar in his basement where we train once a week. I have him on a strength program and I jump in with him for the hex bar portion as we slowly increase weight week over week. Look out for us both in the next Thor movie.
Go to snack lately:
Chocolate Milk. Nothing hits better after a high intensity Hex bar deadlift off. Plus, it makes me feel like a kid again.
Favorite movie last month:
13 Lives on Amazon Prime. This one was recommended to me by my brother, and it did not disappoint. The true story of one of the most incredible rescue stories had me on the edge of my seat. The way it was shot and directed by Ron Howard was straightforward and not over the top Hollywood-esque, which made the accuracy all the more gripping. If you’re uncomfortable with tight spots you might be sweating a bit while watching.
Current Morning routine:
I roll out of bed, read the scripture verse of the day via verseoftheday.com, hop in shower, turn on the coffee machine, down a big glass of water with L Glutamine, take the dog out, and unload dishwasher. Then I start with the first client of the day.
Professional Development-
Currently I am in the beginning phase of studying for the CSCS(Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) from the NSCA. I am excited about this because the CSCS is the gold standard when it comes to working with athletes, especially colligates athletes. The perquisites for taking the exam are having a bachelor’s degree and being AED/CPR certified.
Fun fact-
I started off with a focus of exercise science in college before switching to business but ultimately finished with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Montclair State University. Now, I like to say I do all three. Getting the CSCS certification will be the next big step towards expanding my knowledge and expertise within the field.
If you enjoyed this short update on my life and would like to read something like this once a month, leave a comment, shoot me an email or message me social (instagram and facebook). I would love to hear what you have been into lately as well!
this is great!
Nice to learn more about you! Good luck with the new certification! 🙂
